Some reflection in the Olympic park.

Ahead of my regular Friday night coaching session with the FRE Flyers at Lea Valley in the Olympic Park, I took a wander around the Olympic Park to soak up some legacy. It is a fantastic place, you can still feel the glory of 2012 and almost hear that nationalist roar as Mo Farah and co strive for Gold.

But what of the Riverbank Arena, the hockey venue? Sadly, now just a grassed area and as I passed, a couple of locals walking dogs across towards the estate that was the Olympic village.

There is no legacy, no reminder, no plaque, nothing...... The Olympic legacy hockey venue sits on the other side of the A12, a splendid venue and the FRE Flyers adopted hockey home. So should the Riverbank be forgotten?

Yes, our memories of that place will be forever tarnished with the fact that we finished in the worst place you can finish in an Olympic Games, 4th........ Our Gold medal hopes disappearing in a pall of orange mist that descended after we were walloped by the Netherlands in the semi final. It was one of my toughest experiences in Sport.

So many people did so much to make that venue what it was, 4 years on, it's a shame it has no reminder.
